These research based, best practices propels her class forward and allows students to make connections, apply real world applications, and think critically on a daily basis. Her classroom is a demonstration classroom that attracts visitations from educators across the district and within the school building. Karheline serves as a mentor to novice teachers in the school building, as well as pre-service teachers at New Jersey City University. Her love for education is contagious and excites others to aspire to become highly effective educators.
EMS ESP of the Year 2021-2022:
Esmeralda Almanzar is a vital member of our Support Services Team at Emerson Middle School. As a Social Worker in our school, Esmeralda goes over and beyond on a daily basis to ensure that student safety is the number one priority while ensuring that students' essential needs are met so that academic achievement is successful. Esmeralda works closely with the Administrative Team and Support Services Team to plan school-wide events such as the Week of Respect and Red Ribbon Week. Esmeralda is also our school's Anti-Bullying School Coordinator and part of the Good Grief Counseling Program. Additionally, Ms. Almanzar co-moderates two extracurricular peer to peer programs at Emerson Middle School including The Empower Group and Peer Group Connections (PGC). Through these programs, students take leadership roles and can use their voices in positive ways to act as role models for their classmates and younger students of the school community. Esmeralda also dedicates herself to a life of charity work so that donations may be collected and funds can be raised for those in the community who are in need.
